In 2012, HRG released the groundbreaking study, Independent Pharmacy Shoppers: Who, What, and Why?. In addition to getting the perspective of independent pharmacists on their business and shoppers, independent pharmacy customers were surveyed. The subsequent report identified shopper behavior, purchase preferences and practices, and areas where engagement could be enhanced.

Eight years later, the ever-changing retail landscape, e-commerce influences, wellness and self-care trends, and changing demographics have affected independent pharmacies as much as their chain counterparts. HRG’s 2020 Independent Pharmacy Research Study was conducted to learn how the channel and its shoppers have changed. Data from the study was further mined to present the eight infographics containing new data and insights.
