Make your product the star!

I mentioned in my previous post that glamour photographs (also known as beauty shots) of your product are essential for your marketing materials. Because these images are for use in materials you create, you have more creative license to depict your product in a manner that is most appealing to your target audience. That means you can, for instance, use mood lighting, or show the product in use, out of its package, or in a setting created to generate a particular perception. We recently worked with a manufacturer of a new organic personal care line that wanted glamour shots of their product line to help consumers get to know what the brand is all about.

The customer wanted to showcase the line in a natural setting since the products are natural and wanted the images to have a “spa feel.” The finished photos also needed to be able to be cropped for use in various ways.

We created an inviting setting using candles, fresh flowers, and natural fabrics in warm colors to portray that calm and relaxed feel you get when you enter a spa. Our client wanted pictures of the package as well as the products out of their boxes, next to their corresponding packaging.

In addition, we photographed alternate views of the products to be used online on the company’s website and social media pages, and on e-commerce and blogger sites. Large images were provided to show the details on the packages to ensure a comparable shopping experience to being in the store and picking up the product and looking it over.

After client input, we delivered the high-quality, raw image files ready for print or digital use. It was a fun and creative project. In my next post I’ll discuss some other photography projects we have worked on that will give you more of an idea of the range of our abilities.
